The sequel series consists of two seasons, each with six episodes, set in 1953 when Birmingham is being rebuilt after World War II. The struggle for control over the massive reconstruction projects forms the core of the story—a harsh and mythical power struggle in which the Shelby family once again plays a central, bloody role.
Production takes place at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham and is handled by Kudos (part of Banijay UK) and Garrison Drama, also the producer of the upcoming Peaky Blinders film set during the war.
Executive producer Cillian Murphy, who played the role of Tommy Shelby in the original series, later won an Oscar for Oppenheimer. Both Netflix and the BBC praised Steven Knight as one of the most influential storytellers of our time and promise that the new series will once again captivate audiences worldwide.
The original Peaky Blinders series ran from 2013 to 2022, spanning six seasons, with starring roles for Murphy, Paul Anderson, Helen McCrory, Tom Hardy, and Joe Cole.
