Last April, the series premiered at Showtime. Near the end of June, the final episode of the season aired, which also turned out to be the final episode of the entire series. There's not going to be a second season of the Penny Dreadful spin-off. Showtime has decided to cancel the series after its first season.
Penny Dreadful: City of Angels takes place in Los Angeles in 1938, a time and place that is drenched with Mexican-American folklore and social tension. When a brutal murder shocks the town, detective Tiago Vega finds himself entangled in a story that reflects the history of Los Angeles.
