The casting was revealed at D23 in Brazil with a video of Day in her role on the series' social media accounts. The actress plays Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and Annabeth's mother.
Guest actress Day (pictured) joins new regular cast members Tamara Smart as Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus, and Daniel Diemer as Percy's half-brother Tyson, along with returning regulars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell and Dior Goodjohn .



The second season follows Percy Jackson (Scobell), Annabeth Chase (Jeffries) and Grover Underwood (Simhadri) as they embark on a new adventure based on The Sea of ​​Monsters, the second book in Rick Riordan's bestselling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, published by Disney Hyperion. Production on season two began in August in Vancouver.

In the new season, Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood a year later and his world is turned upside down. His friendship with Annabeth changes, he learns he has a Cyclops for a brother, Grover goes missing and the camp is under siege by the forces of Kronos. Percy's journey to put things right takes him off the map and into the deadly Sea of ​​Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.

Day received an Oscar nomination for leading actress and won a Golden Globe for The United States Of Billie Holiday.
