The story picks up with Will and Sylvia as they grapple with new challenges in their mid-life: work, weddings, and relationship problems. According to the official description, they do their best to remain each other's pillars of strength—but even pillars of strength can sometimes break things.
In addition to returning cast member Carla Gallo, season two also welcomes several new guest stars, including Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett, and Milo Manheim.
Although Platonic was originally intended as a limited series, Seth Rogen previously indicated that the positive reception prompted them to continue. He told The Hollywood Reporter that he was initially hesitant due to his high standards, but that the enthusiasm of the audience and the creative team convinced him to continue developing the series.
The second season of Platonic will consist of ten episodes, the first two of which will premiere on Wednesday, August 6th. New episodes will then follow weekly until October 1st.
