A twist on Columbo’s murder-of-the-week format has seen creator Rian Johnson’s mystery-of-the-week series land a dazzling cast of guest stars for its first season. The casting team at Poker Face has secured another ensemble cast for season two.
The official trailer gives a sneak peek at the adventures they’ll be embarking on when the 12-episode season debuts Thursday, May 8 on Peacock; followed by a new episode each week.
The impressive roster of guest stars includes Cynthia Erivo, Giancarlo Esposito, Haley Joel Osment, Jason Ritter, Justin Theroux, Katie Holmes, Margo Martindale, Melanie Lynskey and former Orange is the New Black cast members Adrienne C. Moore and Taylor Schilling.
Rhea Perlman reprises her role from season one, which ended with Charlie taking down fixer Cliff (Benjamin Bratt) and casino owner Sterling Frost (Ron Perlman), only to be blackmailed by Rhea Perlman's villain Beatrix Hasp into working for her or being hunted again. Charlie chose a life on the road, causing her to once again go on the run in season two.
Here’s the synopsis for season two from Johnson and Lyonne: “Charlie Cale is back on the run, and in season two we’ve taken her journey to the next level one murder mystery at a time. From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime solving existential road-trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability.”
