Season three saw an epic showdown between Kanan (Mekai Curtis) and his mother Raq (Patina Miller), resulting in a few surprise character deaths and the return of a fan-favorite character.
The trailer shows a more confident Kanan finding his place in the world, away from his mother's shadow, as she questions whether she can trust her son and business partner. The two continue to expand their drug empire, teaming up with street legends 'Snaps' (Wendell Pierce) and 'Pop' (Erika Woods) and Italian mafia boss Stefano Marchetti (Tony Danza), while a resurrected 'Unique' (Joey Bada$$) works in silence, seeking revenge on those he feels have wronged him.
Last season, Kanan took a big step forward by trusting his future. After enduring his mother's lies, Kanan took control of his life and took matters into his own hands, setting up the plan that ended in the deaths of Ronnie and Detective Howard.
Flash forward to season four and it looks like the slate has been wiped clean for Kanan, Raq and the rest of the Thomas family. Kanan's drug dealing is at its peak; Raq is free from the enemies that once plagued her; Lou (Malcolm M. Mays) has cleansed himself of his demons; the Federal Task Force case against Marvin (London Brown) has been overshadowed by Howard's corruption; and Jukebox (Hailey Kilgore) has chosen a new path, away from home.
However, trouble lies ahead. Unique is alive and his fickleness and violence are worse than ever. He wants revenge and to turn the lives of the Thomas family upside down. In the midst of the chaos, a truth will emerge that can no longer be denied: You are who you are. Even though you are able to change, the basics remain the same and sooner or later you will be forced to face the inescapable reality of your inherent nature. Rejecting or embracing this truth can mean the difference between life and death.
The series returns with new episodes on Friday, March 7. Watch the trailer below.
