Norwegian comedy drama series from Netflix is ??highly recommended! Netflix has made the first five seasons of the Norwegian comedy drama series Pørni available on its platform in mid-May 2025. The first three seasons were also available on NPO, but I have to honestly say that I unfortunately did not notice the series at all at the time.
Single mother Pernille, better known as Pørni, (Henriette Steenstrup) has a hectic job in Norwegian youth care while caring for her growing children. She is always busy helping others and in doing so, often forgets herself.
Pørni's ex-husband has found a new love, has moved to Copenhagen and writes books about his failed marriage, among other things. Pørni's sister dies after a car accident and Pørni gets custody of her nephew Leo (Jon Ranes). Pørni's father Ole Johan (Nils Ole Oftebro) then decides, after a dramatic visit to the hospital, to come out of the closet. Drama enough, but Pørni is not only about the dramatic events, but about the interaction between all the characters, the resilience and the positivity of Pørni.
The series is a wonderful program to follow. The leading actress is convincing and infectious. Henriette Steenstrup is not only an actress, but she also created the series herself. The first season has six episodes of half an hour, and flies by. Fortunately, there are already five seasons available, so as a viewer you can continue watching immediately after this excellent first season.
And why wouldn't you do that if the situations such as the interaction with children in puberty, difficult clients and fascinating colleagues are very recognizable and human? Sometimes the situations are absurd and it all seems a bit too far from reality, but the episodes always end with a realistic denouement. The series is therefore recommended for fans of drama series with a great comedic touch.
About the writer, Karzal
Mike (1995) has been a member of MySeries since 2016 and is mainly active on the English version of the site. Since 2018, he has been actively translating news articles, columns, reviews and basically everything that ends up on the Dutch site. The original articles, columns and reviews were actually written by others. During the week Mike can be found at IKEA, where he is a national systems specialist and occasionally also in the classroom to teach an English lesson. In addition, Mike logically enjoys watching series and has actually been spoon-fed this from an early age. The genre doesn't matter, there is a place for everything in the otherwise busy life.
