Ransom Canyon will see two regular cast members leaving for season two.

For the second season of the romantic western series Ransom Canyon, changes are being made to the cast.
Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner, who portrayed father and son Davis and Reid Collins in the first season, will not return as regular cast members, sources confirm. Netflix declined to comment.

Macken played Davis, the charming, Ivy League-educated owner of the modern Bar W Ranch. He is in direct opposition to Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel), who, like Davis, is fighting for his interests regarding the valuable water source beneath the ranch land.

Besides their battle over the pipeline, the two largest landowners of Ransom — the Kirklands and the Collins — have had a generational feud. Yet, they share more than their conflict: both are in love with Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly), the lavender farmer and owner of the local dance hall.

Liner portrayed Reid Collins, the confident but sometimes arrogant star quarterback of Ransom High and boyfriend of Lauren. As the heir to the Collins ranch, he seemed to have it all, but beneath his bravado was a sensitive teenager struggling with a traumatic loss and a secret that haunted him.

The drama series, based on the book series by Jodi Thomas and developed by April Blair, is a mix of family saga and contemporary western. It follows the intertwined lives of three ranch families in the rugged Texas Hill Country. Central to the story is the taciturn Staten Kirkland, who, after a personal loss, longs for revenge but finds hope with childhood friend Quinn.

As the battle for the survival of Ransom intensifies, a mysterious cowboy emerges, uncovering old secrets and forcing Staten to fight for his land and his last chance at love.

The official description for season two reads: “Passions run high in Ransom Canyon, where three ranch dynasties in their small West Texas town reignite a generational feud over love, land, and legacy.”

Filming is currently underway in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Alongside Duhamel and Kelly, Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher, Marianly Tejada, and Casey Johnson return, with Johnson being promoted to a regular cast member.

Additionally, the series welcomes two new faces: Ben Robson as Oliver, an urban love interest for Quinn, and Heidi Grace Engerman as Sydney, a flamboyant but dangerously underestimated character.
