Raumpatrouille Orion

This series can actually best be described as "the German Star Trek". Created and broadcast in the same year as the first season of Captain Kirk's adventures, 1966. The story concerns a highly advanced and fast spaceship, the Orion, which in the first episode encounters a new and dangerous alien race that wants to wipe out humanity . During the 7-episode season, these "Frogs" return regularly, but the 7-member crew of the Orion also experiences other adventures. For then, this series looks good. A lot of attention has been paid to the sets, but the effects are clearly inferior to those in Star Trek. In the sets, if you pay close attention, you will see everyday things that are used as props, such as an iron that is used somewhere as a pointer. Very funny to see. If you're a fan of Wednesday Addams' weird dance, then you should definitely check out this series. The producers have really tried to imagine what things will look like in the future. People live in cities under the ocean, but they have also invented new dances. And these are really hilarious to watch. You often see them in the background when a scene takes place in the Starlight Casino in the underwater city, where you also see aquarium images in the roof. Unfortunately, this series only lasted one season. The Frog storyline is neatly concluded, so we are not left with an open ending. But the series was not continued due to costs, among other things. The fact that the transition to color was just starting during this period also played a role. The German production companies could not yet make that and they were afraid that they would not be able to sell the series.
