Slainte! Ray Donovan will not return for season 8

Liev Schreiber, who plays the title role in Ray Donovan, had called on fans to encourage Showtime to make an eighth season.

Liev Schreiber said goodbye to the fans of Ray Donovan with just one word: Slainte. That means something like cheers in Irish and health in Scottish. There had been a rumor for some time that Showtime would not continue the series. And despite Scheiber's call, fans failed to convince Showtime of the value of an eighth season.

Schreiber wrote: "I know the big question on everyone’s mind is whether there will be a Season 8. Truth is it’s in Showtime’s hands. So if you want more, reach out to them… and let them know how you feel. Either way it’s been an amazing ride and we have all of you to thank for it. "

As early as January 2020, Gary Levine, Showtime’s co-president of entertainment, said that the frequently nominated and prize winner Ray Donovan would be approaching the end. He also hinted at an eighth season, but the decision would only come after a few weeks. And now it became clear that Ray Donovan's eighth season is not going to happen.

The drama series premiered in 2013 and tells the story of fixer Ray Donovan who helps the famous and wealthy residents with problems in Los Angeles. In addition to Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, Katherine Moening, Steven Bauer, Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Pooch Hall and Kerris Dorsey also play a role in the series. Alan Alda and Zach Grenier were added to the cast in the last season.
