Liev Shreiber: there will be more Ray Donovan

Leading actor Liev Schreiber has responded to the commotion that arose after canceling the Showtime hit series Ray Donovan.

Ray Donovan's fans started protesting a week ago since Showtime canceled the series. Showtime had given a cliffhanger ending and the fans want proper closure. David Hollander fuelled the flames by saying that he and the creative team from the popular series were overwhelmed by the decision.

Now the protagonist, who had called on the fans to make their voices heard, has posted an encouraging message on Instagram. "It looks like your protests are being heard," he told the fans on an Instagram post on Wednesday night. "Too soon to say how or when, but with a little luck and your ongoing support, there will be more Ray Donovan."

Schreiber did not want to elaborate, but his comment was a clear indication that conversations are happening regarding a renewal for Ray Donovan. Showtime has done that before with Shameless (US), which has received a final eleventh season. And Homeland also got a final eighth season to provide proper closure.

Ray Donovan also deserves a nicely finished story and not an open ending that ended the seventh season. During the TCA last month, Showtime co-president Gary Levine admitted that the drama series was approaching its end, but he also hinted that the fixer could have a final and eighth season. "I think Ray Donovan is approaching the end," Levine told Deadline on January 13. "We have always talked about seven or eight seasons."

Schreiber and Hollander had hoped for another season, but the conversation about a new season did not go well. Showtime finally decided to cancel the series. Despite the cliffhanger at the end of the seventh season, and the fairly open story lines, one of the storylines was actually completed. But that wasn't enough to complete the whole story about the fixer, from Los Angeles and later New York, and his family.

MySeries keeps a close eye on the news regarding Ray Donovan. As soon as there is more news we will of course inform you about this.
