Resident Evil given the green light by Netflix

Resident Evil has been given the green light by Netflix. The streaming service has ordered eight episodes. The series is based on the popular game series with the same name. The plot of the series was also revealed.

The story of Resident Evil will consist of two different timelines. The first one tells the story of fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker. They move to New Raccoon City. They figure out that their father is keeping some dark secrets capable of destroying the world. The second timeline takes place over a decade later. The now thirty-year-old Jade struggles to survive in a world with fifty million humans and more than six billion monsters, as the secrets of her past haunt her.

In January 2019, Netflix announced that they have started to work on a Resident Evil series. The streaming service was still looking for a writer at the time. By now it has become clear that Andrew Dabb (Supernatural) has written the series and that Netflix has ordered a total of eight episodes. The series is based on the video game series with the same name. Constantin Films - which also created the movies - will also produce the series. The cast and crew were supposed to start the recording process back in June, but this was delayed due to the coronavirus.
