Earlier, it was revealed that Andrew Scott (Fleabag) was going to portray the titular character in Ripley. Now, it has been revealed that Dakota Fanning (The Alienist) will join the cast of the series. The story revolves around the fraud Ripley, who is figuring out how to make ends meet in New York in the 60s. A rich man asks him if he wants to travel to Italy to convince his son to come home. Tom accepts the assignment and that starts a complex life of fraud, deceit and murder.

The series is based on the Tom Ripley books by Patricia Highsmith. It isn't the first adaptation of the books. In 1999, a movie was made called The Talented Mr. Ripley. Steven Zaillian (The Night Of) will be writing the first season and he will also direct all the episodes. Production will start later this year.
