Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett cast in season two of Rivals

Disney+ has announced that Marvel Cinematic Universe star Hayley Atwell and beloved British actor Rupert Everett will guest star in the second season of Rivals.Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter) plays Helen Gordon, Rupert Campbell-Black's ex-wife and mother of their two children, Marcus and Tabitha. Rupert Everett (The Serpent Queen) plays her husband, Malise Gordon, Campbell-Black's former show jumping coach and mentor.

In addition to the two new names, other actors have also joined the cast: Maxim Ays, Holly Cattle, Oliver Dench, Amanda Lawrence, Bobby Lockwood, Eliot Salt, and Jonny Weldon.

These newcomers join the all-star cast from season one, including David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Bella Maclean, Aidan Turner, Emily Atack, Danny Dyer, Katherine Parkinson, Nafessa Williams, and Victoria Smurfit.

The second season is once again set against the beautiful backdrop of the Cotswolds and the glamorous, competitive world of British television in the 1980s. The beloved characters and drama that captured the hearts of fans and critics in the first season return for a new chapter full of intrigue and emotion.

According to Lee Mason, Executive Director of Scripted Originals at Disney+ EMEA, Rivals is a milestone for Disney+, which has quickly become one of the platform's most beloved British original dramas.

Showrunner Dominic Treadwell-Collins and Alexander Lamb of Happy Prince emphasized that Atwell and Everett are a perfect fit for the world of Rutshire and that season two will showcase the best of British and Irish acting talent. Moreover, more guest stars are on the way, promising added excitement for fans.

Rivals will later be released on Disney+ in the UK and internationally, and on Hulu in the US. The complete first season is available to stream now on Disney+.
