Riverdale - Season 2

Netflix announced the second season of Riverdale and all fans were ready for it. Every village has its problems, but Riverdale has some bigger issues. After the first episode, Twitter was filled with shocked tweets. And just like in the previous season, it is once again a mystery who terrorises Riverdale.

In the first episode every loyal viewer is immediately confronted with an intense moment. First we hear Jughead's (Cole Sprouse, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) voice as he reads one of his articles. But then.... Archie Andrews (K.J. Apa, Shortland Street) lies in the hospital, panicking whilst covered in blood. Whilst watching you're on the edge of your seat, not missing a single moment.

It's not just this one moment that remains with you, whilst watching this season. Something happens during each episode, this can be either something unexpected or something you don't want to happen. Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) supports her lover in everything, even if it is at the expense of her own family. Archie wants to do everything to stop the 'black hood' terrorising the people around him. This doesn't always work out and as a result of that Archie and his friends get in trouble.

We only know Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart, Miss Stevens) as the sweet girlfriend of Jughead. She tries to make her own life and that of her mother Alice ( Madchen Amick, Twin Peaks) better. But once Betty's 'brother' enters their life, this changes. Is Betty able to protect her family from him?

Everyone knows Riverdale. It is a fun show, with a lot of exciting moments. The storylines are amazing as it's not just Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead who have to deal with various issues. It was a bit weird that the creators had the idea that one episode should be centred around a musical. During this entire episode there was a lot of dancing and singing going on, but fortunately it still drew from that main storyline. It worked out well, fans thought it was enjoyable and with the ending it was difficult to wait a week for the next episode.

Everything put together, this is one very strong show. With only one episode coming out each week, it is absolutely nerve-racking. And then there was also the one-month break in the middle of the season. Whilst watching you try to figure out who could possible be the Black Hood and it almost feels as if you help Betty investigate her own brother. Next to that you feel empathy for the rest. I can't really think of many shows where I have the feeling that it could last for years. Riverdale is one such show. Season one was already quite good, but season two kept that going. The show has already been renewed for a third season and I am quite confident in saying that there will definitely be more seasons of Riverdale.
