MGM+ releases premiere date and trailer for Robin Hood

MGM+ has set a premiere date for the drama series Robin Hood, a new reinterpretation of the classic tale.
Robin Hood from MGM+ is described as a grand, romantic adventure with historical authenticity, psychological depth, and a renewed focus on the relationship between Rob and Marian.

Robin Hood

Against the backdrop of the Norman invasion of England, a love develops between Rob (Jack Patten), the son of a Saxon forester, and Marian (Lauren McQueen), the daughter of a Norman lord. As Rob becomes the leader of a band of rebellious outlaws, Marian infiltrates the court to fight royal corruption together and bring peace to the land.

The cast also includes Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon, and Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine.

In addition to showrunner John Glenn and executive producer/director Jonathan English, Todd Lieberman (Hidden Pictures) also serves as an executive producer.

The ten-part drama series Robin Hood premieres in the US on Sunday, November 2, with a double episode at 9:00 PM (American time), followed by weekly releases until the season finale on Sunday, December 28.

Robin Hood will also be available in the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Latin America, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg via MGM+. Watch the trailer below.

I've always loved the story of Robin Hood since I was a child, so this new version immediately appeals to me. I'm especially intrigued by the fact that Marian has a larger role. I'm curious to see how they'll develop the combination of history and adventure.

It's fun enough, but little of the original story remains these days. We'll see.
