Rookie Blue returns for fifth season

'Rookie Blue' is returning for its fifth season this summer.

ABC renewed the show in June, despite it pulling lower ratings, averaging a 1.0. Nevertheless, it's one of the few original shows from the network that attract the 18-49 audience. Since its debut in 2010, the show has been a steady performer in the slow summer season.

Filming has begun in Toronto. Due to tax reliefs, the co-production of ICF Film and Entertainment One remains a financially interesting investment for ABC. When the show will return will be announced during the May Sweeps.
