Netflix Renews Running Point Starring Kate Hudson for Second Season

Netflix Renews Running Point Starring Kate Hudson for Second Season

In one of the quickest Netflix renewals for a first-year series, the streamer has picked up Running Point for a second season.
The news comes after the series debuted last month on February 27, and just days after Netflix canceled the drama series The Recruit after two seasons. Meanwhile, another freshman Netflix comedy, No Good Deed, is still awaiting a decision on its fate nearly three months after its premiere.

In its debut weekend, Running Point scored 9.3 million views and was in the Top 10 in 83 countries.

“We are so thrilled to be able to deliver a Season 2 of Running Point to the fans of the show,” co-creator/executive producer Mindy Kaling told Tudum. “We still cannot believe the response from audiences – thank you to everyone who has watched!”

In Running Point, inspired by the LA Lakers and their president Jeanie Buss, Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) is named president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business, when a scandal forces her brother to step down. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job.

The 10-episode first season also stars Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Jay Ellis, Max Greenfield, and Justin Theroux.
