Masterpiece shares trailer for final season of Sanditon

Masterpiece has released a trailer for the final season of Sanditon, the drama inspired by Jane Austen's last unfinished novel.

The series took on its own direction (Austen only completed 11 chapters before her death), with writer Justin Young taking over as head writer and executive producer for the second and third seasons. The drama premieres Sunday, March 19 at 9 p.m. on PBS. The series, which was edited and created by Andrew Davies and produced by Red Planet Pictures, will also be streaming that same day.

Returning characters for season three include Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams), Georgiana Lambe (Crystal Clarke), Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes), Tom Parker (Kris Marshall), Mary Parker (Kate Ashfield), Lady Denham (Anne Reid), Edward Denham (Jack Fox), Arthur Parker (Turlough Convery), Lady Susan (Sophie Winkleman), and Ralph Starling (Cai Brigden).

More new faces are added, such as Lady Montrose (Emma Fielding, Years and Years), who is the quintessential Austen mother. She arrives in Sanditon with one goal: to find suitable partners for her children, Lydia and Henry. Lydia (Alice Orr-Ewing, A Very English Scandal) is an independent young woman who is not as eager for marriage as her mother is, while Lord Henry Montrose (Edward Davis, The Little Drummer Girl) is charismatic and confident, but has kept a secret.

Then there's Rowleigh Pryce (James Bolam, New Tricks), a wealthy, gruff investor who wants to work with Tom Parker on the expansion of the seaside town. Their plans are complicated when Rowleigh bumps into Lady Denham. Also new to Sanditon is Alexander's brother, Samuel Colbourne (Liam Garrigan, Small Axe), a lawyer and charming bachelor.
