‘Sherlock’ will be back for season four

According to Steven Moffat, showrunner and executive producer, plans of a fourth season of 'Sherlock' already exist. The script for season four is already planned. Moffat also stated that there was no use in making a movie of ‘Sherlock’ because every episode is already at full length and ready to be shown in the cinemas. Moffat even hinted about a fifth season of the very popular show.

Moffat: "So we have got plans – but our plans don’t tend to be ‘Let’s blow up the world or cast the most famous person in the world’- they tend to be ‘What exciting twists and turns can we add to this?’ And I think we’ve got some crackers!" This comes after Mark Gatiss (co-creator) revealed he would love to carry on the series for as long as possible. "We'll carry on as long as we have breath in our bodies! Benedict and Martin are very keen to carry on and we're all very keen to carry on, I love the idea of them being in their 50's and still doing it."

Sherlock’ season three rating were even higher than season one and two. The third and final episode ‘His Last Vow' concluded on January 12 with an enormous twist and 8.77 million viewers.
