There is more than one (season) Silo. Two new seasons of this science fiction series have now been announced. This makes it clear that we will not get all the answers this season either.
What remains is an ingenious story.
Juliette, as was evident at the end of the first season, manages to get over the hill first. This season shows where she ultimately ends up. Not as she hoped in a better world. However, what she experiences is related to the future of the Silo from which she has just escaped. Will history repeat itself or will Juliette be able to prevent this?
In the Silo where it all started, intrigues and power games are still the order of the day. Juliette's departure and the fact that she was the first to climb over the hill creates resistance against those in power. The latter group uses increasing violence and manipulation to keep everyone under control. They opt for an age-old strategy. Shifting the blame to a certain group of people.
Yet the resistance is increasing. Juliette's former colleagues don't leave it at that. They organize themselves against the mayor and his entourage. This has resulted in some successes, but that success appears to be short-lived. Betrayal and limited resources result in painful losses. The Silo represents major changes, but the danger turns out to be much greater than expected.
The second season of course no longer has the surprise of the first season. The world of the Silo is now known. Juliette's story outside the Silo provides new insights. Just like several discoveries in the Silo where it all started in the first season. Perhaps it is a bit too coincidental that what Juliette experiences literally has the same impact in the Silo from which she came. However, the explanation is plausible and the story helps build the tension.
Due to all the developments, we are receiving more and more answers, but at the same time every answer also raises new questions.
What remains is an ingenious story. Beautifully depicted. The dark and matte colors fit perfectly with the dreary world in which it takes place. The end of this season screams for a sequel. Fortunately, that will happen. It's nice that this is already known, because otherwise it would have been a very harsh ending.
The actors continue to grow into their roles. It ensures that, despite the predominantly slow nature of the series, the tension remains. Moreover, this second season has enough action to keep fans satisfied. Due to all the developments, we are receiving more and more answers, but at the same time every answer also raises new questions. Reason enough to eagerly await the next season.
