Start date for seventh season of BET comedy series Sistas by Tyler Perry

The five ladies return. BET has quietly renewed the series Sistas for a seventh season, which will begin next week. Tyler Perry's Sistas is a drama series starring KJ Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown, Crystal Renee Hayslett, DeVale Ellis, Chido Nwokocha, Anthony Dalton II, Brian Jordan Jr., Kevin A. Walton and Trinity Whiteside.

The 22-episode sixth season debuted in May and concludes tonight.



The series follows a group of single black women who are bonded by their long-lasting friendship. These five ladies - Andi (Smith), Danni (Mignon), Karen (Obsidian), Sabrina (Brown) and Fatima (Hayslett) - go after what they want and handle life's blows with resilience, determination and the support of each other . In the fifth season, the ladies jumped back into the world of dating.

The sixth season of Sistas averages a 0.19 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 964,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings (including all DVR viewing until 3 a.m.). Compared to season five, that's an 8% drop in the demo and a 2% drop in ratings.

Season seven kicks off on Wednesday, January 3 with the episode "New Beginnings." The first episode takes place three months after the events of the sixth season finale and shines a spotlight on new romances and old tensions.
