Apple TV+ is renewing Slow Horses for a sixth season

Apple TV+ is sticking with the spies of Slough House for a sixth season.
The successful series Slow Horses, starring Gary Oldman, has been re-contracted to the streaming platform after season four. A fifth season was ordered in January.

In season six, the spies go on the run when Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) embroils them all in a deadly, high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge. The sixth season is based on the novels Joe Country and Slough House by Mick Herron, the sixth and seventh books in the series.

Slow Horses is a huge hit for Apple TV+, with BAFTA nominations for Oldman and co-star Jack Lowden and a Primetime Emmy for writer Will Smith. The drama follows the exploits of Slough House boss Jackson Lamb (Oldman) along with an ensemble cast that now includes Jonathan Pryce, Hugo Weaving and Joanna Scanlan.

Season four began with River's (Lowden) grandfather, David Cartwright (Pryce), killing an intruder posing as River and planning to kill him. After tracing the killer's origins, River discovered that an ex-CIA agent named Frank Harkness (Weaving) was running an operation to raise children to become trained killers.

Season five is expected in 2025. In the past, Apple has released two seasons of Slow Horses at the same time, but no word yet on season seven.

Jay Hunt, Creative Director, Europe for Apple TV+, said, “Audiences around the world have fallen in love with the Slow Horses, and I’m delighted that Gary Oldman will be leading this star-studded cast on another acerbic and action-packed adventure.”

The series is produced for Apple TV+ by Heartstopper creator See-Saw Films, with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Adam Randall, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski and Oldman serving as executive producers. Season six has been adapted for television by co-executive producer Gaby Chiappe, with Adam Randall returning to direct
