Apple TV+ reveals trailer for Slow Horses season five

Gary Oldman may not seem like he belongs in Slough House, but he is back for the fifth season. Apple TV+ has released a trailer.
Apple TV+ has released the trailer for the fifth season of Slow Horses. In the new season, Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman), River Cartwright (Jack Lowden), and the rest of the MI5 outcasts are once again on the case — and this time also on the defense.

According to the description, everyone at Slough House becomes suspicious when the always awkward tech nerd Roddy Ho suddenly has a glamorous girlfriend. When a series of bizarre events occurs in London, the Slow Horses must unravel the connections.

Jackson Lamb knows all too well that in the world of espionage, the London Rules apply: always protect your own skin. For poor Roddy (Christopher Chung), this means that his romantic happiness is quickly seen by the intelligence services as evidence of involvement in a terrorist attack.

Slow Horses is a spy dramedy about Slough House, the place where MI5 spies end up after making major blunders. In addition to Oldman and Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, James Callis, Tom Brooke, and Jonathan Pryce also play their regular roles. In season five, Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso) appears as a special guest.

The fifth season, based on Mick Herron's Slough House book series, consists of six episodes and premieres on Wednesday, September 24. A new episode will be released weekly until October 29.

What a wonderful prospect! Slow Horses remains one of Apple TV+'s strongest series. The mix of sharp espionage intrigue and that dry British humor works every time, and Gary Oldman is, of course, a joy to watch as Jackson Lamb.

The idea that Roddy Ho's love life is causing an international problem sounds delightfully absurd and exactly the kind of plot this series gets away with. The fact that Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso!) also shows up makes it all the more compelling.
