St. Denis Medical Renewed for Second Season by NBC

St. Denis Medical Renewed for Second Season by NBC

St. Denis Medical's doctors and nurses remain on call at NBC.
The network has ordered a second season for the comedy series, a mockumentary about the overworked staff of an underfunded Oregon hospital. The renewal comes as the series returned from a second-half hiatus yesterday.

St. Denis Medical

St. Denis Medical is the first new NBC series to be renewed for the 2025-26 season. NBC’s other comedy, Happy’s Place , starring Reba McEntire, scored an order for additional episodes in November, usually a promising sign for a series.

The medical drama Brilliant Minds wrapped its 13-episode season a week ago; NBC has three dramas — Grosse Pointe Garden Society , The Hunting Party and Suits LA — set to premiere in the coming weeks.

After its first six episodes, St. Denis Medical is averaging just under 3 million viewers per episode, rising to 5.2 million after a week of streaming and other forms of delayed viewing. It’s NBC’s top new series among adults 18-49 so far this season, and the network says 21.4 million people have watched at least a few minutes of the series across all platforms.

Wendi McLendon-Covey, David Alan Grier, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, Kahyun Kim, Mekki Leeper and Kaliko Kauahi star in St. Denis Medical.

Eric Ledgin and Justin Spitzer (Superstore) created the series, which hails from Universal Television. Ledgin serves as showrunner and executive produces with Spitzer (through his Spitzer Holding Company), Simon Heuer, Ruben Fleischer, Bridget Kyle and Vicky Luu.

St. Denis Medical joins other television newcomers Matlock (2024) (CBS) and Universal Basic Guys (Fox) in re-signing for next season.
