On the 17th of December, Amazon Prime announced that the new CBS All Access animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks distribution rights have been acquired for select territories, which includes Australia, New-Zealand, Europe, Japan and India.

Star Trek: Lower Decks has been developed by Emmy Award-winner Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty) and focuses on the supporting crew of one of the least important ships of Starfleet, the U.S.S. Cerritos. It takes place in the year 2380. Helmsmen Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi will have to continue their jobs and social life even though the ship regularly has to deal with a number of science-fiction related events. The Starfleet crew that lives in the Lower Decks of the U.S.S. Cerritos consists of Ensign Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome), Ensign Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid), Ensign Tendi (Noël Wells), and Ensign Rutherford (Eugene Cordero). The starfleet figures that are part of the bridge crew of the ship are Captain Carol Freeman (Dawnn Lewis), Commander Jack Ransom (Jerry O'Connell), Lieutenant Shaxs (Fred Tatasciore) and Doctor T'Ana (Gillian Vigman). The series also features a couple of cameo appearances from some Star Trek veterans, including Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis and John de Lancie.
