It looks like it’s full speed ahead for the U.S.S. Enterprise. Paramount+ has announced that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will have its launch in early May. The streaming service has also given the upcoming series an early second-season renewal
Ordered to series in May 2020, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Babs Olusanmokun, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Jess Bush, Melissa Navia, and Bruce Horak. A prequel to the original Star Trek series and a spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery, this show follows Captain Pike (Mount), Science Officer Spock (Peck), and Number One (Romijn) in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.
Today, Paramount+ also announced the fifth season renewal of Star Trek: Discovery, a second season debut for Star Trek: Picard, and a fourth season renewal for Star Trek: Lower Decks.
The first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will premiere on Paramount+ on the 5th of May in 2022.
“Four years ago, we made a promise to grow Star Trek into something it had never been before, and thanks to the incredibly hard work done by our many talented showrunners, writers, and directors, along with the extraordinary support of CBS Studios and Paramount+, we’re keeping our word,” said Alex Kurtzman, architect and executive producer, Star Trek franchise. “Now our current shows are set up for the future as we work to build Trek’s next phase of programming for years to come.”
