Sterregem - First episode
Sterregem is a village where only famous Flemish people are allowed to live. At least as long as they are successful or in the spotlight. 2010 was the year that the Flemish channel VTM introduced us to Against the Stars, a program filled with sketches that mainly targeted celebrities. The program laughed at anything and everything and created an atmosphere that brought back revue memories. The combination of sketches and singing, in which no BV was safe from the gang of Tegen de Steren op, was a gigantic success and ultimately resulted in eight seasons in which the actors and actresses fully demonstrated their imitation and singing talents. could bring. International artists were also regularly targeted. After 95 episodes and several sold-out shows in Antwerp's Lotto Arena and the Sportpaleis, the program came to an end.
In 2024, the cast of Tegen de Sterren is back. Only Ella Leyers has dropped out. But instead we are presented with some new talents. No more sketches, but a real fiction series called Sterregem.
Sterregem is a hidden Flemish municipality where only successful, well-known Flemish people are allowed to live. If you drive around the village, you will see one famous head after another. The Verhulst family, Sam Goris and his wife Kelly, Camille, Bockie De Repper, Herman Brusselmans, Fien Germijns and many others have found a home in the village thanks to the real estate (real estate, ed.) celebrities, Bart Appeltans and Béa Vandendael.
In the first episode, that duo has to re-rent Danny Verstraeten's place. The desired BV is Pommelien Thijs. However, there is a big problem. The recently retired Mr Verstraeten does not want to move. This causes a lot of commotion in the small village and every resident has their own opinion about the matter.
Danny Verstraeten is the only person who plays himself in the first episode of Sterregem. All the other figures are put to shame by their respective impersonators. Anyone who regularly watches VTM programs will probably have an idea who is imitating who in Sterregem. Some new faces also appear, such as Milan Meert (Acid), Robbe Boons (Viktor Verhulst), Armin Mola (Kamal Kharmach), Juan Gerlo (Bockie), Charlotte Verduyn (Marie Verhulst) and Lisa Gerlo (Pommelien Thijs).
Sterregem is not exactly high-quality television but pure entertainment. A good half hour of laughing with BV'en is never to be missed. In that respect, Sterregem is top. The imitations themselves are also not to be sneezed at. People like Guga Baul, Nathalie Meskens, Tine Embrechts, Clara Cleymans, Chris Van Espen, Walter Baele and Jonas van Geel know the ropes and the newcomers are certainly not inferior to them. The scenario, on the other hand, is a different story. It hangs together haphazardly and sometimes moderators Bart and Béa themselves seem to have lost their way. Or is that perhaps the intention?
This is just fun television without much fuss and spending half an hour a week in Sterregem should be an easy feat.
