Netflix Reveals Start Dates for Fifth and Final Season of Stranger Things

Netflix has finally announced when the long-awaited fifth and final season of Stranger Things will be available to stream.
According to creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, the final season will be "our biggest and most ambitious yet." More than 650 hours of footage were shot over a year of production. Each of the eight episodes is said to be "blockbuster-sized."

At the same time, the Duffer brothers emphasize that this is also their “most personal season,” with a high emotional charge — both for themselves and for the cast, who have been growing with the series for almost a decade now.

After the devastating events of season four — which literally ripped Hawkins open — season five will see the ultimate confrontation with Vecna and the fate of the world. The group of friends, now adults, must do everything they can to save their city and each other.

The teaser that was revealed during the Netflix Tudum event last weekend gave a glimpse of the tone: darker, more emotional, and grander than ever. You can watch it below.

Netflix has already revealed the titles of all the episodes, which are promising and mysterious: The Crawl, The Vanishing of [currently censored], The Turnbow Trap, Sorcerer, Shock Jock, Escape From Camazotz, The Bridge, and The Rightside Up.

With titles like Escape From Camazotz and The Rightside Up, the season seems to be going all-out on mysticism, inverted realities, and dimensional menace — a perfect fit for the established mythology of The Upside Down.

The fifth season marks the end of one of Netflix’s most influential series of all time. But the franchise may live on: Netflix is working on multiple spinoffs, including an animated series and a stage play.

The epic finale of Stranger Things will be released in three parts, beginning on Thursday, November 26, followed by part two on Christmas and the season finale on New Year’s Eve.
