Netflix describes the series as follows: “Welcome back to Hawkins, where the original characters must fight new monsters and unravel a supernatural mystery that terrorizes their town.”
©The Hollywood Reporter - NetflixThe series is written, directed, and produced by Eric Robles (Flying Bark Productions), who also serves as the showrunner. Additionally, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, the creators of Stranger Things, are involved as executive producers through their production company Upside Down Pictures, along with Hilary Leavitt, Shawn Levy, and Dan Cohen from 21 Laps Entertainment.
The voice cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Benjamin Plessala as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper.
Additionally, Odessa A'zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips have been added to the cast.
According to Matt Duffer, the aim was to “evoke the feel of an '80s cartoon.” Showrunner Robles added that the series “captures the magic of Hawkins in a new way” and revealed that the story takes place between seasons two and three of the original series.
The announcement of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 was made on Stranger Things Day — November 6, the day Will Byers disappeared in Hawkins in 1983 — a date celebrated by fans worldwide.
Meanwhile, the final season of Stranger Things will be released on Netflix in three parts, each around the holidays: Volume 1 on November 26, 2025 (four episodes), Volume 2 on Christmas Day (three episodes), and The Finale on New Year's Eve.
All parts will be released at 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
The main cast — including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, David Harbour, and Winona Ryder — returns for the epic conclusion of the series.
Although the original story is coming to an end, the Duffer Brothers have hinted that the Stranger Things universe will continue to expand.
“There are more Stranger Things stories in development,” said Matt Duffer. “We want each new project to have its own reason for being, feel original, and — very importantly — just be amazing. And we have quite a few ideas that we believe are just that.”
