©The Hollywood Reporter - NetflixIt quickly becomes clear that the group gains shocking new insights about the Upside Down. Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) realizes that everything they thought they knew about this dark world might be completely wrong. Yet hope and loyalty remain central, including the promise Dustin and Steve (Joe Keery) make to each other: if one dies, the other will too.
Meanwhile, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) tries to convince Eight (Linnea Berthelsen) to help her track down Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and eliminate him once and for all. Additionally, there are mysterious images of Max (Sadie Sink) and Holly (Nell Fisher), who leave a cave and disappear through a floating door into an open field, with an unknown destination.
The fifth and final season takes place in the fall of 1987. Hawkins is heavily scarred by the rifts between worlds, and the group has only one goal: find and kill Vecna. His disappearance and unknown plans make the mission extra dangerous.
At the same time, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified the hunt for Eleven, forcing her to go into hiding once again. As the anniversary of Will's original disappearance approaches, the sense of impending doom grows. The series is heading towards a final battle where everyone is needed, and the entire group of friends must unite one last time to end the nightmare.
