The first season is based on the bestseller of the same name by American writer Mike Isaac, which chronicles the rise of Uber and all the unpredictable consequences that arise from it.
Emmy Award winners Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Kyle Chandler star in this drama series alongside Academy Award nominees Elisabeth Shue and Uma Thurman. All seven episodes can be binned exclusively on Streamz from Thursday, April 25.
The series tells the story of Uber, one of the most talked-about companies in Silicon Valley. We see how Travis Kalanick (Gordon-Levitt), the driven CEO of Uber who was ultimately ousted in a coup by the board of directors, deals with his sometimes difficult relationship with mentor Bill Gurley (Chandler), the outspoken and brilliant investor from Texas who stakes his excellent reputation on Uber's success - and then has to live with all the consequences. We also see Thurman playing the role of Arianna Huffington, the savvy businesswoman and co-founder of The Huffington Post, who was also a board member of Uber at the time.
Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber shows what a rollercoaster ride it was at the start of the transport company Uber, where we get a behind-the-scenes look at the highs and lows of Silicon Valley. The Uber company is both a miracle and a cautionary tale, with internal and external tensions creating unpredictable consequences.
The series was produced by Showtime. Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Beth Schacter are the showrunners and writers of Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber, as well as executive producers alongside Paul Schiff, Stephen Schiff and Allyce Ozarski.
