Supergirl will end with season six

The CW has revealed that the upcoming sixth season of the American superhero series will also be the last. The sixth season of Supergirl is expected to release in 2021. Melissa Benoist (Arrow) has been portraying the titular character in the series, which premiered on CBS back in 2015. Starting from the second season, The CW took over. The network has now decided to end the series with the upcoming sixth season. Supposedly, the recording process of the final season is set to begin next week.

The producers, the studio, the network and Benoist have unanimously decided that due to all the delays and less positive messages about the series, it is better to end Supergirl. The last season will consist of twenty episodes.

Supergirl is based on DC characters, which were created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The series revolves around Kara Zor-El, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped the destruction of her planet alongside her famous nephew. At the age of 24, she has finally accepted her superpowers.
