Oscar nominee Uma Thurman (Chambers (2019)) played the role of Katherine Newman in six of the eight episodes and, we understand, would not appear in subsequent seasons. She was joined in the first season by Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory), Noah Emmerich (The Americans), Georgina Campbell (The Pale Horse), Elyes Gabel (Scorpion), Elizabeth Henstridge (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Angel Coulby ( Merlin).
The series, which was quietly canceled about a year ago, was one of the most talked-about series to come out of Apple's UK office alongside Slow Horses and Bad Sisters. The eight-part series was unveiled in March 2020, but production was delayed due to the Covid pandemic. Finally, the series launched in February 2022 to critical acclaim.
The series was commissioned for the United Kingdom by Apple's Worldwide Video executives Zack van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, and Creative Director for Europe Worldwide Video, Jay Hunt. Rob Williams (The Man in the High Castle) served as showrunner, Chris Long (The Americans) directed and Darin McLeod served as producer.
Rare for a streamer, the linear rights of Suspicion (2022) season one were recently sold by Keshet International at the Mip TV market in Cannes in April.
The news comes with multiple Apple series moving as a result of the LA strikes. Deadline revealed last week that filming for the second season of the sci-fi thriller Silo - Apple's top-watched drama series - has been halted indefinitely due to the double strike, while Foundation (2021) season three is also expected to be affected.
Sharon Horgan's Bad Sisters has continued as it is under an Equity contract with an Irish writer, while Slow Horses filmed SAG member Gary Oldman's scenes before the strike was declared.
Apart from the strikes, Apple has canceled The Mosquito Coast and High Desert, among others, so far this year.
