Netflix shared the following about season four:
"Come spend the holidays in Serenity as season four of Sweet Magnolias takes us from Halloween to Christmas, with surprising laughs, unexpected heartbreak and renewed determination along the way. Maddie, Dana Sue and Helen must navigate the twists and turns of their romantic lives... the return of old enemies, the loss of great loves and the pain of transitioning from past dreams to the present.
As the men in their lives pursue their own dreams and the teens take awkward steps toward adulthood, the Magnolias support each other with creative problem-solving, deep dedication and – as always – weekly margaritas.”
According to Tudum, showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson shared that season four "the twists and turns of romance, the complexities of friendship, the surprises that pop up in life, and how all of these things make us more grateful for the people who love us, the people who care for us." and fight with us, and the people who can make us laugh, no matter what we go through."
