The eight-part horror series was inspired by Robert McCammon’s New York Times bestseller Stinger and was ordered by Peacock in December 2022. Teacup was released in October 2024.

Teacup’s cast also included Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre, and Luciano Leroux.

The series fared fairly well with critics upon release, with a 70% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In a review for Variety , Aramide Tinubu wrote that “it starts out as a fascinating and terrifying tale before descending into sci-fi madness that fails to land.”

Teacup is written and produced by Ian McCulloch.

E. L. Katz (The Haunting of Bly Manor, Channel Zero) served as director and executive producer. James Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett directed, along with Francisca X. Hu and Kevin Tancharoen. Stinger author McCammon also produced.

That's a shame! There could have been so much more in it.
For those who have yet to see it, there is a cliffhanger alert...

I feel like this show lost it's momentum very early on in the series. It had the potential to be so good. Then just got weird
