First trailer for Netflix series The Beast in Me with Claire Danes

Netflix has released the first trailer for The Beast In Me, a new limited series starring Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys.The Beast in Me centers around Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes), an acclaimed writer who has completely withdrawn from public life since the tragic death of her young son. She is no longer able to write and lives as a shadow of her former self—until her interest is piqued by her new neighbor, Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), an infamous real estate tycoon who was once the prime suspect in the disappearance of his wife.



What begins as fascination quickly turns into obsession: Aggie becomes entangled in a dangerous cat-and-mouse game where she hunts Nile's demons while simultaneously trying to escape her own. The line between curiosity and destruction blurs, and the quest for truth threatens to become fatal.

The title The Beast In Me is inspired by a Johnny Cash song, but according to showrunner Howard Gordon (Homeland), it's about more than just monsters in others: "It's about our collective complicity. Whether it's Monica Lewinsky, Amanda Knox, or Nile Jarvis—we are often quick to judge. But do we have the humility and compassion to reconsider our judgment when we see the story from another angle?"

In addition to Danes and Rhys, Brittany Snow and Natalie Morales play important roles. Guest actors include Jonathan Banks, David Lyons, Tim Guinee, Hettienne Park, Deidre O'Connell, Kate Burton, Bill Irwin, and Julie Ann Emery.

The Beast In Me consists of eight episodes and premieres worldwide on Thursday, November 13, on Netflix. Watch the trailer below.
