The focus is once again on Nan St. George (played by Kristine Froseth), who in season one chose to marry Theo (Guy Remmers), Duke of Tintagel, to give her lover Guy Thwarte (Matthew Broome) the chance to save her sister Ginny (Imogen Waterhouse) from her abusive husband, Lord James Seadown (Barney Fishwick). In the trailer, we hear Nan say: “Theo and I are happy. I’m in this for life.” However, it turns out that her past and her feelings for Guy have not completely disappeared.
The trailer also shows an intense confrontation between Nan and the Dowager Duchess of Tintagel (Amelia Bullmore), Theo’s mother, who forces her to remain true to her role as a duchess: “Anyone can be a woman. You are...” To which Nan firmly replies: “A duchess.”
Christina Hendricks also returns as Patricia St. George, and at the end of the trailer, we see her daughter Nell (Leighton Meester) ask her to introduce her to Nan — a moment that hints at new alliances and social shifts.
As in season one, the story is supported by a modern, female-led soundtrack. The trailer features Chappell Roan’s hit “Good Luck, Babe!”, while the full season promises to feature songs by Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Gracie Abrams, Clairo, St. Vincent, Bleachers, The Last Dinner Party, and more.
Original music production is once again provided by Stella Mozgawa, with contributions from Empress Of (with new single Little Secret), Suki Waterhouse, Madi Diaz, Holly Humberstone, Jade Bird, Emily Kokal (of Warpaint), and more.

The second season brings back newcomer Leighton Meester (pictured) and familiar faces including Alisha Boe, Aubri Ibrag, Josie Totah, Mia Threapleton, and builds on the themes of female autonomy, societal expectations, and romantic intrigue—all based on Edith Wharton’s unfinished novel.
With its fresh combination of classic costume drama and contemporary tone, season two of The Buccaneers promises to be another visually and emotionally rich experience. Watch the trailer below.
