Last year, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance premiered on Netflix. Even though the series has won an Emmy for 'Outstanding Children's Program', Netflix has decided to cancel the fantasy series. This means that, for now, there's not going to be a second season of The Dark Crystal.
Executive producer Lisa Henson (Julie's Greenroom) has said the following about the cancellation; "We know fans are eager to learn how this chapter of The Dark Crystal saga concludes, and we’ll look for ways to tell that story in the future."
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance takes place in the dying world of Thra. The fire of rebellion is ignited and an epic struggle for the planet begins when three Gelfling find out how the evil Skeksis acquire their power. Skeksis has damaged the Crystal of Truth, an unknown source of power in the heart of Thra. The series is based on the movie The Dark Crystal by Jim Henson, which released in 1982. The series takes place before the events of the movie.
