“Season 3 flips the chessboard. Kate lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want,” creator and showrunner Debora Cahn said in a statement.
All six episodes of season two can be streamed from Thursday, October 31. In the upcoming season, Kate will delve deeper into the attack in London and the previous attack on a British aircraft carrier off the coast of Iran, which she now knows came from within the British government and not a foreign adversary.
In her quest, she must deal with a strained marriage, a complex dynamic with British Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi) and a threatening visit from Alison Janney's newly introduced Vice President Grace Penn.
Speaking of her wedding, a teaser for the upcoming season, released in September, finally revealed that Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) is still alive after an explosion in the heart of London at the end of the first season takes his life endangered.
From creator, showrunner and executive producer Debora Cahn, The Diplomat (US) also stars Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear and Ato Essandoh. The series is produced by Janice Williams, Alex Graves and Keri Russell.
