Bradley Whitford will have a recurring role in The Diplomat (US) season three

Bradley Whitford has been tapped for a recurring role opposite his former The West Wing co-star Allison Janney.
Additionally, The Diplomat (US) sees the two West Wingers return to the White House, with Whitford playing the First Gentleman to Janney's President in the series created and produced by The West Wing alumna Debora Cahn. A Netflix representative declined comment.

In The West Wing, Whitford and Janney's characters Josh Lyman and C.J. Cregg turned it professionally and they worked alongside each other as deputy chief of staff and press secretary, respectively, for most of the series' seven seasons. However, they were often sparring partners and with former West Wing writer Cahn at the helm, The Diplomat (US) could give fans a taste of their trademark bickering.

Season three of The Diplomat (US), starring Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell, picks up after the shocking cliffhanger of season two, which saw the President's sudden death and Janney's Vice President Grace Penn taking his place. The new season is currently in production in and around New York.

Both Whitford and Janney earned Emmys for their work on The West Wing; Whitford also won Emmys for The Handmaid's Tale, the sixth and final season of which he is currently filming, and Transparent. He recently wrapped production on the Netflix limited series Death by Lightning opposite Michael Shannon and Matthew Macfadyen.
