In The English Game, two 19-century football players from different social classes compete together to change sport and England forever. The series is based on true facts and tells about the origins of football and how it has become the most popular sport in the world.
The six-part series, written by Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey), will be released on Netflix on the 20th of March. Edward Holcroft (Alias Grace) plays one of the main roles. Kevin Guthrie (The Terror), Charlotte Hope (The Spanish Princess), Craig Parkinson (Temple), James Harkness (The Victim) and Niamh Walsh (Jamestown) also play an important role in the series. Birgitte Stærmose (The Spanish Princess) and Tim Fywell (Grantchester) direct the British mini series. You can watch the trailer below if you're interested.
