The Equalizer spin-off starring Titus Welliver is definitely not happening

CBS has decided not to move forward with a proposed spin-off of The Equalizer starring Titus Welliver.
The project had gone largely unnoticed, and the final decision was made after the planned spin-off episode of The Equalizer, guest-starring Welliver and co-star Juani Feliz, aired last Sunday, April 20.

That leaves the Queen Latifah-starring and executive-produced drama The Equalizer as the only remaining CBS scripted title — either pilot or series — yet to learn its fate for next season. There’s still a chance the series could be picked up for what could be a sixth and final season of 13 episodes. The odds are considered 50-50, but the fact that talks with producing studio Universal Television are continuing is a promising sign.

As usual, finances are said to play a role in the talks, with Queen Latifah rumored to have agreed to concessions that could increase the show's chances of renewal.

A reimagining of the classic series, The Equalizer stars Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall, an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background who uses her extensive skills as a former CIA agent to help those who have nowhere else to turn.

Welliver played Hudson Reed, a former top CIA agent with a dark secret who connects with Robyn through an old mentor. Feliz played Samantha Reed, trained by her father to be a weapons expert, skilled martial artist and a true chameleon, but hiding a mysterious past.
