The Equalizer starring Queen Latifah canceled by CBS after five seasons

Queen Latifah's Robyn McCall has made her final attempt at justice in The Equalizer. The series has been canceled by CBS.
CBS has opted not to renew the Queen Latifah-starring and executive-produced crime drama The Equalizer for a sixth season. It was the last CBS scripted series or pilot to await more information on its fate before announcing its 2025-26 schedule on May 7.

The Equalizer

There are no plans to offer The Equalizer, produced by Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group, anywhere else. Last night's season finale will now serve as the series finale.

As previously reported, The Equalizer was considered for a sixth and final season of 13 episodes. The odds were always 50-50, but there were promising signs. With finances playing a major role in renewal talks these days, sources say that The Equalizer producers have agreed to reduce the show's budget to the amounts requested by CBS, with Queen Latifah reportedly making concessions of her own.

But that was never a guarantee of a takeover. It came at the last minute, as CBS was finalizing its 2025-26 schedule, ultimately deciding to cancel The Equalizer .

The show’s creative team may have had a hunch. Sources say they designed the season five finale to potentially serve as a season finale.

Lorraine Toussaint, Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira and Laya Deleon Hayes starred alongside Queen Latifah.
