Fourth season The Last Kingdom will release on Netflix in April

The third season of The Last Kingdom didn't release on Netflix (internationally) until quite recently. In the Netherlands, it was especially late. We had to wait for such a long time because Netflix was still working alongside the BBC during 3rd season production. Now, Netflix has managed to acquire full rights for the series. The fourth season will consist of ten episodes and will release on the 26th of April.

The Last Kingdom revolves around Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon, American Horror Story), who is trying to claim his ancestral birthright during troublesome times. The series takes place in the ninth century in Great-Britain. Alfred the Great (David Dawson, Ripper Street) is trying to protect his kingdom - the last out of the seven - from the mighty Danes. The series is based on The Saxons Stories, which were written by Bernard Cornwell.
