The new drama series has Jennifer Garner (Alias) in the lead role and as an executive producer. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones), Angourie Rice (Mare of Easttown), Aisha Tyler (Criminal Minds), Augusto Aguilera (Too Old To Die Young), Geoff Stults (Guilty Party) and John Harlan Kim (9-1- 1) also play a leading role in the series.
Based on the novel by Laura Dave, The Last Thing He Told Me follows a woman trying to build a better relationship with her stepdaughter after her husband disappears.
Produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine and 20th Television, the series will premiere worldwide on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday, April 14, 2023, followed by new episodes every Friday through May 19.
The series follows Hannah (Garner), a woman who must form a relationship with her sixteen-year-old stepdaughter Bailey (played by Rice) in order to find the truth about why her husband has mysteriously disappeared.
The Last Thing He Told Me was created and edited by Laura Dave, alongside Academy Award-winning co-creator Josh Singer. It is the first collaboration between the married Dave and Singer, who both serve as executive producers, alongside Garner and Hello Sunshine's Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter. The series is produced for Apple by Hello Sunshine, who optioned the book by author Laura Dave and co-produced the project with 20th Television.
Olivia Newman (Chicago Fire) directs the first episode and the female directors for the series are Deniz Gamze Ergüven (Perry Mason (2020)), Daisy Von Scherler Mayer (Yellowjackets) and Lila Neugebauer (The Sex Lives of College Girls).
Published by Simon & Schuster on May 4, 2021, the novel The Last Thing He Told Me instantly became a #1 New York Times Best Seller and remained on the list for over a year.
