The Lincoln Lawyer - Season 2
This strong sequel to the successful first season of The Lincoln Lawyer leaves you wanting more. Netflix has split the second season of The Lincoln Lawyer into two parts. The first five episodes were made available on July 6, 2023, and the next five on August 3, 2023 on the pay channel. In the first season, we were introduced to the main character Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, From Dusk to Dawn: The Series), a character created by writer Michael Connelly, who is also the mastermind behind the Bosch character.

This second season starts in the parking garage in Los Angeles where the first season also started. This time Haller is the victim and we see how he is severely beaten by two men. How this scene fits into the season we won't find out until much later. Shortly after this scene, we see how Mickey's second ex-wife Lorna (Becki Newton, Divorce) tries to manage the law firm while Mickey enjoys the success of his big murder case involving Trevor Elliott. Meanwhile, Lorna's husband-to-be, Cisco (Angus Sampson, Fargo), working as a detective for Mickey, is entwined in his dark past.
Meanwhile, the relationship between Mickey Haller and his first ex-wife Maggie (Neve Campbell, House of Cards) has cooled considerably. Maggie still works as a prosecutor at the Public Prosecution Service, but her responsibility has been considerably reduced. Their daughter Hayley (Krista Warner) still has hope that the two ruffs will get back together, but that hope soon fades away. With the reopening of an old case from the first season, Detective Raymond Griggs (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, The Chi) also visits Mickey again to put the heat on him.
Along with Mickey's loyal driver, ex-addict Izzy Letts (Jazz Raycole, My Wife and Kids), there are several versatile characters to keep the momentum going. I also loved that Hollywood veteran Elliot Gould (Ray Donovan), who turns 85 at the end of August, guest stars as a sounding board, mentor, and conversation partner for Mickey Haller. Mickey can talk to him about the legal profession, the pitfalls and what Haller's father would have done.
The second part of the season, which appeared at the beginning of August, makes up for that. Mickey Haller is no longer flawless, there are beautiful plot twists and the tension can be cut at times. The season also ends with enough leads for a third season. For example, there is a new customer with a link to the reopened case from the first episode of this season, and the question of whether the lawsuit against Lisa Trammell will lead to revenge against Mickey Haller. The Lincoln Lawyer is highly recommended, a beautiful legal drama series with fascinating characters and a great script.
The first season saw the charismatic Mickey Haller make his comeback to the legal profession when a murdered former colleague leaves him his practice in his will. In addition to his fascination with various Ford Lincoln models, Mickey Haller is known for his wit and legal dexterity. He is less handy in love, as evidenced by the fact that he has been divorced twice and is often loose with his agreements. In addition to his fascination with various Ford Lincoln models, Mickey Haller is known for his wit and legal dexterity.

In episodes eleven through fifteen, we see a smoother Mickey Haller than before. He has some of his demons under control, only his pitfalls - his complacency and women - seem to start playing tricks on him again. He soon meets a new love in his life, but the question is whether this restaurant owner Lisa Trammell (Lana Parrilla, Once Upon a Time) will play the cards open. With that, there are enough storylines to make this season fascinating again. The episodes flew by and tasted like more, but still felt smooth. In episodes eleven through fifteen, we see a smoother Mickey Haller than before.
