Alex now holds a prominent position within the company, but a magazine headline immediately poses the pressing question: "New Paradigm or Glass Cliff?" In other words: is this a breakthrough for women or a recipe for failure? Alex is determined to introduce a new company culture, supported by allies like Stella (Greta Lee) and Mia (Karen Pittman).
Yet, the arrival of mysterious newcomer Celine Dumont (Marion Cotillard) causes unrest. She questions Alex's vision of a so-called "feminine utopia," calling it simply "not sexy." Boyd Holbrook also joins the cast as a podcaster who becomes both Alex's adversary and potential love interest.
The biggest mystery, however, concerns Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon). The third season ended on a cliffhanger, with her turning herself in to the FBI for her role in a cover-up surrounding the Capitol riot and her brother Hal (James Tupper). In season four, Bradley is revealed not to be in prison, but back working as a journalist. Along with former colleague Chip (Mark Duplass), she launches an investigation into a dangerous UBA cover-up.
Meanwhile, other familiar faces are returning, such as Jon Hamm as tech magnate Paul and Billy Crudup as former CEO Cory. Moreover, promotional material reveals Bradley's return to the desk at The Morning Show, tying into the central theme of second chances.
The season promises plenty of excitement, not only professionally but also personally, with political intrigue, power struggles, and romantic entanglements. There seems to be chemistry between Bradley and Cory again, and Cotillard’s character Celine sums up the tone well with the statement: “To get what you want, you have to burn the house down.”
The trailer suggests Alex becomes entangled in a conspiracy, while the FBI enters the building and old moral conflicts between Alex and Bradley are reignited.
The official description reads: “The Morning Show opens in the spring of 2024, nearly two years after the events of season three. With the UBA-NBN merger complete, the newsroom must navigate new responsibilities, hidden agendas, and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America. In a world of deepfakes, conspiracy theories, and corporate cover-ups, who can you trust, and what is real?”
The fourth season will consist of ten episodes and premieres on Wednesday, September 17th, on Apple TV+ with one episode, followed by weekly releases until November 19th.
