Created and directed by Shawn Ryan (S.W.A.T. (2017), The Shield), the ten-part drama stars Gabriel Basso (The Big C.) as Peter Sutherland, a low-level FBI agent who works in the White House basement and manned an emergency line for American spies that never rings. Then a call comes in from a terrified civilian, Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan, Filthy Rich (US)). Peter must protect Rose and work with her to uncover a fast-paced and dangerous conspiracy that will eventually lead all the way to the Oval Office and threaten the country.
Hong Chau (Homecoming), Sarah Desjardins (Impulse), Fola Evans-Akingbola (Siren (2018)), Eve Harlow (The 100), Enrique Murciano (Without a Trace), Phoenix Raei (Clickbait), and DB Woodside (Lucifer) star also starring in the Sony Pictures Television Studios series based on the novel by Matthew Quirk. The series can be streamed from Thursday 23 March.
When Ryan announced at the end of 2020 that he was going to create a series, he discussed some of his favorite books he had read that year. He named The Night Agent in the "Books I've read, decided to adapt for television, and may have already finished writing the pilot episode" category. Netflix ordered The Night Agent as a full series seven months later.
Along with Ryan, the performers are Seth Gordon, Marney Hochman, Julia Gunn, James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, Nicole Tossou, and David Beaubaire.
