Nowadays, the rapid renewal of series can be called very scarce and we as viewers are sooner provided with news about which series has now been cancelled. Fortunately, this is not the fate of The Night Agent. The series has been renewed unusually quickly for a second season.
Created and directed by Shawn Ryan (S.W.A.T. (2017), The Shield), the ten-part drama stars Gabriel Basso (The Big C.) as Peter Sutherland, a low-level FBI agent who works in the White House basement and manned an emergency line for American spies that never rings. Then a call comes in from a terrified civilian, Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan, Filthy Rich (US)). Peter must protect Rose and work with her to uncover a fast-paced and dangerous conspiracy that will eventually lead all the way to the Oval Office and threaten the country.
“The last week has been a whirlwind as we’ve finally been able to share The Night Agent with the world,” said series creator, executive producer and showrunner Ryan. “To see the tremendous reaction to the show has been a great joy and is a credit to our cast, our writers, our directors, our crew and our partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix. We couldn’t be any prouder or more excited to get cracking on Season 2 to share the further adventures of Night Action with our newfound fans.”
Shawn Ryan previously stated in an interview that this series will have a clear beginning, middle and end. Any future seasons might have a few returning characters, but most of them won't. According to him, this should keep the series fresh. It is not yet known when the second season of The Night Agent will release on Netflix.
